Metamorphosis poster

I was an event head at a cultural fest at my school called IGNITE. I had to plan, market, and execute my event, Metamorphosis.

In addition to the planning, I had to decorate the room the event was being held at. A poster was supposed to be provided and was not at the last minute.

I decided to take up the responsibility of making the poster.

The theme of the event was “the more things change the same they remain.

The location had old banner frames lying around from a different event, I used that as the base frame. I used black polyester sheets to cover the frame because that would be less time-consuming than painting.

Next, we found a logo that symbolizes the event, a metamorph butterfly. I took help from a teacher to edit the picture to fit on 2 A3 sheets because it needed to be big enough to fit on the frame. We made paint by mixing stainer and wall paint to match the shades of the butterfly we printed. We dripped this paint from the ends of the picture and blended it into the frame.

It didn’t look good in the beginning. The paint was really thin and as we painted it the butterfly started to tear. We decided to let it dry and finish it before the event the next day! Till then we printed the name and pasted it on the frame.

We finished the poster 10 minutes before the event! The ends and the drip looked great. My other event head had made origami butterflies to put around the name but it was too much. We decided to keep it minimal.
